Last month, our school was delighted to welcome a group of American students from Massachusetts, who came to share insights about their hometown of Duxbury. Their visit expanded our 6th Grade students’ global understanding! The American students gave an engaging and informative presentation about Duxbury, highlighting the town’s history, culture, and unique features. They shared everything from local landmarks to traditions that make Duxbury such a special place to live.

After the presentation, our students had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a lively discussion with the visitors. The questions ranged from curious inquiries about daily life in Massachusetts to deeper conversations about the differences in school systems and cultural practices between the United States and Spain. It was a wonderful chance for our students to compare their own culture with that of their new friends from across the Atlantic, and discover both the similarities and differences that make each culture unique.

The excitement continued when our students took the opportunity to share their own knowledge about Spain and the European Union. Over the past few weeks, our 6th Graders have been studying the EU, its member countries, and their various customs. They presented displays showcasing different European countries, focusing on their cultures, traditions, and landmarks. This exchange was a perfect way for our students to showcase their own heritage while learning about the world beyond their borders.

The visit was a great success and sparked a lot of excitement among our students. It was clear that they were eager to learn about different cultures and forge connections with their peers from Massachusetts. Events like this help foster mutual understanding and respect between young people from different parts of the world.

Our students are now even more excited to continue exploring and learning about the diversity that exists in our world!
