BYE, BYE, WINTER

As we bid farewell to winter and welcome the arrival of spring, we want to take a moment to reflect on the activities our younger students have experienced. Last winter, we embraced the season with creativity, hands-on learning, and plenty of snow-inspired fun.

To set the tone for the season, our students brought the magic of winter indoors by decorating the classroom windows with their own painted snowflakes. It was a great way to not only get into the winter spirit but also engage in a creative activity that helped our students practice words related to winter while they painted, such as “snow,” “flake,” and “cold.”

What’s winter without some snow play? Though we may not have had the real thing, we certainly made the most of our pretend snow. Our students had a blast crafting snowballs out of plasticine, molding them with tiny hands, and engaging in fun, imaginative play. We also brought the magic of snow indoors with fake snow. This sensory activity was a hit with our students, who enjoyed the tactile experience of touching and playing with the soft, powdery material.
We introduced our students to flashcards featuring winter-themed images to support their learning and reinforce their winter vocabulary.

No winter celebration would be complete without a song! Our students learned and sang the song Little Snowflake together, and it quickly became a classroom favorite. The simple, catchy lyrics helped reinforce the winter vocabulary they had learned, and singing the song was a delightful way to practice pronunciation, rhythm, and new words.
As we say goodbye to winter and look forward to the warmer days, we are excited about the many new adventures and learning opportunities that spring will bring.
