In our language block, one of the most exciting and productive parts of the day is our language rotations.
These rotations are designed to help the students grow as readers, writers, and speakers by giving them time to focus on different aspects of language learning. They rotate through six engaging stations: Speaking, Work on Writing, Reading to Self, Reading to Someone, Listen to Reading, and Word Work.
In the Speaking station, students get the chance to practice their oral communication skills by discussing prompts, retelling stories, or sharing their thoughts with a partner or small group. This helps them become more confident and expressive.
At the Work on Writing station, they focus on building their writing creativity by working on stories, journal entries, or other writing assignments.

Read to Self gives them quiet time to dive into books of their choice, helping students to develop fluency, comprehension, and a love for reading.
During Read to Someone, students take turns reading aloud with a partner, which not only builds fluency and expression but also helps them support each other in understanding the text.
At the Listen to Reading station, pupils use audiobooks or digital texts to hear fluent reading, which exposes them to new vocabulary and proper pronunciation.
Finally, Word Work helps students strengthen their spelling, phonics, and vocabulary skills through hands-on activities like word sorts, games, and writing practice.
These rotations make their language time interactive, fun, and full of opportunities to grow as learners in all areas of literacy.
