Growing Gratitude

We’ve just wrapped up a heartwarming week of Thanksgiving celebrations in our PYP (Primary Years Programme) community. We started with a Disguise the Turkey challenge at home and launched Gratitude Boxes outside each classroom so students could leave notes of thanks for peers and staff. Our youngest learners wrote heartfelt letters of gratitude and posted them into our Thanksgiving Mail Box, spreading joy and appreciation in their own special way.

On Thanksgiving Day (27th November), each grade from 1st to 6th contributed to our Thankfulness Express by writing messages of gratitude on autumn-themed shapes like pumpkins, chestnuts, tea mugs, and mushrooms; a simple but powerful way to live the Learner Profile attributes in a real, meaningful way.

Throughout the week, our students demonstrated enthusiasm, creativity, and empathy. A particularly touching moment came from our «escuelitos», who thanked our kitchen staff for their daily hard work by bringing them the food and snacks, an act that truly embodied the spirit of gratitude.

These activities not only made Thanksgiving fun and meaningful but also helped strengthen our sense of community. We are incredibly proud of the kindness and thankfulness shown by our PYP learners, values that truly make our school shine.

William Arthur Ward – “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”

Happy Thanksgiving!
