Teaching children about family vocabulary is an essential part of their language development. And that is what we have been working on recently with our little students. Starting everyday routine in our circle time with the Finger Family Song has been an engaging way to know the most important family members.
During the class, the students showed their family photos, and it presented an excellent opportunity for us to encourage them to draw their family members. They were excited to talk with the rest of the class about their mummies, daddies, brothers, and sisters. Then, they put their pictures below their family photos so they could compare.
Another activity they enjoyed was using flashcards to build their own family. While they were putting their family members inside the house, they could work on counting! Counting is an important skill for young children to learn, and in our class, we make sure to incorporate it as much as possible.
